The short answer…it depends! If you’re vehicle has different sub models (ie. Ford Super Duty F250 XLT or Platinum) that can COME equipped with LED headlights from the factory, then yes, they are perfectly legal and DOT approved. This would be considered an OEM LED conversion, one of which we deal with a lot utilizing OEM components.

What about a vehicle that ONLY has halogen headlights in it’s models lineup? Technically speaking, no. However, the lighting industry today has many DOT approved aftermarket options. The primary one we tend to focus on is retrofitting if you’re vehicle does NOT have proper projectors to control light output (HID or LED). This allows the new LED system to properly output light on the road without causing glare, eye fatigue or dangerously blinding oncoming drivers. This is a SAFE and reliable option when purchased or built through a reputable shop.
